Am 1.April im Jahre 1992 wurde die MAZET GmbH (Maschinenbau und Zerspanungstechnik) von Klaus und Margit Köhler gegründet. Sie entstand aus der ehemaligen Zentralwerkstatt der Maxhütte Unterwellenborn.

Activity fields are in steel and roller mills as well as in similar large plants of processing and preparation technology as well as energy, manufacturing and mechanical deformation plants. The mechanical processing of large milled and turned parts is no problem for us. Of course also smaller parts are part of our programme. In the recent years - true to our motto “We turn every thing” - we were able to convince our customers with nowadays 51 employees of our efficiency. It is our aim to fulfil our customer’s requirements on schedule by quality and spontaneity.

Our location is Unterwellenborn, located between the cities Saalfeld and Pößneck. The location Unterwellenborn in the eastern part of Thuringia is already for decades well known for manufacturing of steel and can therefore look back on a long-distance historical development. In this area copper ores have already been produced, smelted and used for bronze manufacturing by the original inhabitants. The very beginning of the manufacture of iron ores has to be set around 450 B.C.E. Beginning of the 19th century the mining in the Wutschetal (the area between Kamsdorf and Kaulsdorf near to Unterwellenborn) began to grow.

Today the site of the MAZET GmbH comprises an area of around 20,000 m² with a machinery of 50 machine tools consisting of horizontal drilling machines, carousel lathes, planing, milling, sawing, welding on and grinding machines as well as of a locksmith’s shop for disassembling, assembling and repairing. Our work is done with conventional machines up to modern CNC machines. Our technical competence is to manufacture and produce components and resulting mechanical assemblies.
